Dr Bolavis Foundation is a labour of love born in 2025, and proudly registered with the Companies and Intellectual Properties Commission. This non-profit company is all about pouring love and support into students through mentorship, while also rolling up sleeves in health-focused community outreach.

But where does DR BOLAVIS come from? The foundation was actually named after the founder, Dr Teffo, who is well known to her mentees as Dr Bolavi. She used to call them Bolavi (translating to my beloved), which they flipped, and started addressing her with that name. After some time of trying to fight it, she eventually accepted that the nickname is here to stay and then taught herself to love it as well. DR BOLAVIS FOUNDATION is a name that means love in action. The foundation serves as a nest where students are cherished, communities uplifted, love is the vibe.

"Dr Teffo, a distinguished medical professional hailing from the humble beginnings of gaMashashane, embodies the epitome of academic excellence and unwavering dedication. A proud alumna of the University of Limpopo, she holds two esteemed degrees from the institution: Bachelor of Occupational Therapy and Bachelor of Surgery & Bachelor of Medicine. Her remarkable academic journey was punctuated by numerous accolades, including top honours in her MBChB 6 class, best student in the School of Medicine, and best overall student in the Faculty of Health Sciences. These distinctions, coupled with her earlier achievement as the best Occupational Therapy student in her final year at Medunsa, underscore her unrelenting pursuit of excellence. With a career spanning four years as an Occupational Therapist at Dilokong and Letaba Hospitals, Dr Teffo made the courageous decision to return to academia full-time to pursue her dream career in medicine.

Her mission now is to inspire and guide the next generation of healthcare professionals, drawing from her own experiences and triumphs. Through her foundation, she strives to create a ripple effect of excellence, empowering her mentees to reach their full potential and make a meaningful impact in their communities."
